From 2007 onwards the reset instructions will depend on if the vehicle has steering wheel controls or not (please reference photos). After performing an oil change on the Mercedes Sprinter or Dodge Sprinter the maintenance data can be reset by doing the following:
Without Steering Wheel Controls:
1) Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting the engine). Wait until the odometer reading is shown.
2) Press and hold the “O” button until a beep sounds (about 30 seconds).
3) Press button “M” repeatedly until “rESET 229.5” (depending on your model you may seem different numbers after rESET which is normal) is shown with the oil can symbol.
4) Press button “O” for 3 seconds, release and press again.
5) Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
With Steering Wheel Controls
1) Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting the engine). Wait until the odometer reading is shown or press the FORWARD or BACK button until displayed.
2) Press the arrow UP or DOWN button several times until “service scope x in xxx km” appears.
3) Press button “O” in the instrument cluster until a beep sounds (about 30 seconds).
4) Press the BACK button once.
5) Press the arrow UP or DOWN button until “Service in xxx km” appears.
6) Press button “O” on the instrument cluster. The menu “Carry out” appears.
7) Press the arrow UP or DOWN button until “Oil types” appears.
8) Press the “+” or “-” buttons until the desired *oil specification is shown.
9) Confirm the oil type with the arrow UP or DOWN button.
10) Press the “O” button until “Service confirmed” appears (about 3 seconds).
11) Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.

Diesel engine with long oil change interval: Qual. 228.51 (older instrument clusters 229.5)
Diesel engine with short oil change interval: Qual. 229.31 (older instrument clusters (229.3)
Gas engine with long oil change interval: Qual. 229.5
Gas engine with short oil change interval: Qual. 229.3
