The 2014 Volkswagen Beetle service reminder come on when the vehicle is coming due or past due for an oil change service. For vehicles without text messages, a warning , a warning chime sounds when the ignition is switched on, and a flashing wrench symbol  is displayed for several seconds when service is due. For vehicles with text messages, Oil change now! or Inspection now! is shown in the instrument cluster display. After performing an oil change service, follow these instructions to reset the service reminder:
1. With the ignition turned off, press and hold the 0,0 SET button.
2. Turn the ignition on. Release the 0,0 SET button.
3. Press the double square button within 20 seconds.
4. After a brief period the display switches back to the normal display.
5. Turn the ignition off and then start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.

Vehicle with text display instrument cluster:
1. With the ignition turned off, press and hold the 0,0 SET button.
2. Turn the ignition on. Release the 0,0 SET button.
3. The confirmation request appears in the display.
4. Press the OK button on the windshield wiper lever or steering wheel.
5. After a brief period the display switches back to normal.
6. Turn the ignition off and start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
